My Non-Negotiable Morning Ritual

My morning ritual has changed the course of my life. When I first started my entrepreneurial journey, I would start with 5 minutes of meditation every day. I was really just breathing and closing my eyes, but it was a start.

I soon found YouTube and Apps that led me on some incredible meditation journeys and I began to see a difference in my mood. The things that used to bother me, were no longer able to take hold. My commute to work in traffic wasn’t as stressful. The whole time I thought I was meditating to manifest leaving my corporate job, but what I really found was inner peace without realizing it (and then I manifested getting out of my career!).

My morning ritual has changed over time, but I consistently come back to these 4 items as my non-negotiables:

  • Hydrate

  • Meditate

  • Caffeinate

  • Educate

Let’s break them down into quick bite-sized pieces.

Hydrate.

When I wake up in the morning, I drink water to begin to wake up and refresh my body. Some people love hot water, sea salt, and lemon. Others like room temperature. Me…I like it cold from the fridge. Whatever you like, just start to get that body hydrated.

Meditate.

My favorite ways to meditate are to either listen to a guided meditation or just music. Some days I have 45 minutes for a super juicy meditation and sometimes I only have 5 minutes, but no matter what, I’m sitting, breathing, protecting, and connecting when I wake up. This will profoundly change your life. Check out the Spirit + Soul Intention App for meditations of all lengths.

Caffeinate.

What I’m talking about here is whatever gives you energy in the morning. For me it’s coffee and the ritual of using my soul stirs to say affirmations while stirring my coffee, but this can be your tea (caffeinated or not!), exercise, green juice, etc. Whatever gives your energy a boost!

Educate.

I wholeheartedly believe in the term “never stop learning.” So whether I only have time for 2 pages of a book or an entire chapter, a podcast episode, or one of the thousands of online courses I have, I do something to further my mind every single day. If you’re not growing, you’re dying, friend…so let’s get some growth in.

Sometimes I add in an Oracle Card pull and journaling depending on how much time I have and how I feel. This entire morning ritual can take as little as 15 minutes and I know that this can sound like a lot to some of you. I want to remind you of this… you’ll never find the time to take care of yourself, so stop looking. You have to make the time and YES, you’re worth it. Once you do, you’ll see that life shifts in so many beautiful ways.
